Not sure where to find your license number? Here's a step-by-step guide based on how DOTM Nepal processes applications. Your license number follows the format: XX-XX-XXXXXXXX (e.g. 02-14-89173037).
When you applied at your local DOTM office, you received a receipt or acknowledgment slip. Your license number (format: XX-XX-XXXXXXXX) is printed clearly on it. This is the most reliable source.
If you have your old paper booklet license (before smart card), your license number is printed on the front page. The same number applies for the smart card check — it does not change.
The first two digits are your district code (e.g. 02 = Kathmandu). The middle two are your office code. The last 7–9 digits are your unique license number. Example: 02-14-89173037.
If you have your license number but are unsure of the format, SMS LC <number> to 33001 from any Nepali network. DOTM will reply with your official status. See the SMS section above.
DOTM publishes printed license lists periodically — not daily. Check our "Last Updated" date in the stats bar above. If it doesn't match your expected batch, check back in a few days. Batches from different districts are uploaded separately.
For official confirmation and to collect your smart card, visit your nearest transport management office during working hours (typically Sunday–Friday, 10 AM–4 PM). Bring your original citizenship certificate and application receipt.
