🏢 Collection Guide

How to Collect Your Smart Card

Once status shows "Approved" or "Printed".

1

Confirm Status Online

Use any of the three portals above. Screenshot your result as proof.

2

Visit Your District Transport Office

Go to the same Yatayat Karyalaya where you submitted your biometrics — not any other office.

3

Bring Required Documents

🪪 Citizenship Certificate (original) 📄 Citizenship Photocopy 🧾 Payment Receipt (pink slip) 📋 Temporary Licence (if issued)
4

Receive Your Smart Card

Submit documents at the counter. Smart card issued on the spot after verification.

⚡ Digital Copy is Legally Valid

A digital screenshot from the official DOTM portal is legally valid until you receive your physical card. Traffic police recognise it as long as it shows your name, licence number, and watermark.

⚠️ Still Pending After 6 Months?

Delays are common. You can:

  • Visit your issuing transport office in person
  • Contact the DOTM helpline directly
  • File a complaint under Nepal's "Right to Service" provision

💡 Tips

Things to Know Before You Check

📝

Name Must Match Exactly

Enter your name exactly as submitted. Even a minor spelling difference returns no result — try alternate spellings.

🧾

Find Your Licence Number

Your application number is on the pink/white payment receipt from the transport office. Keep it throughout the process.

🌐

Trust Online Over SMS

Confirmed cases of SMS showing "Pending" while the card was already ready. Always verify on the DOTM portal.

📅

Check from 8-Month Mark

Start checking regularly from 8 months after your trial exam. Average wait is 6–24 months.

📸

Screenshot Your Approval

When "Approved" appears, screenshot it immediately. Recognised by traffic police before you collect your physical card.

🏛️

Use Your District Portal

Dang or Chitwan applicants should use their district portal — may show more accurate local data than the national portal.

❓ FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Average waiting time after passing your trial exam is 6 to 24 months, depending on your district and the current printing backlog. Kathmandu and major cities often have longer queues.
Send LC [space] Licence Number (e.g. LC 12345678) to 33001 or 31003. Costs ~NPR 6. Use the SMS tool on this page — tap "Open SMS App" and it will pre-fill everything in your messages app.
In most cases, no result = not yet printed. It can also mean a name mismatch or incorrect number. Try alternate spellings and confirm you're using the number from your pink payment receipt.
Use the portal for the district where you applied. Dang applicants → Dang DOTM. Chitwan applicants → Chitwan Yatayat. Everyone else → National DOTM. All three are in the checker above.
Government portals sometimes block embedding for security reasons (X-Frame-Options). If blocked, the page auto-detects this and shows a direct link button. Tap "↗ Open Official Portal" to use the official site directly.
Trust the online portal. SMS data lags significantly. Confirmed reports of SMS showing "Pending" while the card was already ready to collect. Always verify on the DOTM website.
Rejection usually means an error in biometric data, documents, or personal details. Visit your local transport office immediately with your original documents to find the specific reason and resolve it.
